Who we are
We are three generations of a typical American family. Our collection of unique personalities, geographies, personal and professional experiences give us broad perspectives and diverse viewpoints on outdoor topics. Like many families, we don’t agree on everything, but Outdoor Ruhls isn’t about politics, religion, or divisiveness. We’re here to share a common bond of love for family, friends, and the outdoors. Here you will find not just a family but a community of outdoor enthusiasts telling stories, sharing expertise, and making new memories.
Meet the Family
Poppy and Meemaw
Randy (Grant #3) and Karen Ruhl (lovingly dubbed Meemaw and Poppy when the eldest grandchild - Grant #5 - was born) have been dragging kids on outdoor adventures since the 70’s. Both outdoors enthusiasts before they met, they teamed up to raise four kids in the outdoor tradition. They still live in a third-generation family home in the small town of Quentin, Pennsylvania.
Mark’s Family
Mark (1986) is the youngest of the three brothers.
Mike’s Family
Mike (1980) and Caitlin, both passionate conservation professionals, met in Yellowstone National Park in 2009, drawn together by a shared love for the natural world. Together, they have two adventurous young sons, Robert (6) and Emmit (3), who eagerly join them in exploring the outdoors. Whether they're hunting, fishing, or camping, the family finds joy and connection in wild places, nurturing a legacy of respect for nature. Mike and Caitlin treasure the traditions and camaraderie that come with a life spent outdoors, passing those values on to their boys.
Matt's Family
As the oldest brother, Matt—whose real name is Grant, making him the fourth Grant in the family—brings a determined work ethic and precision to all he does. Known around Outdoor Ruhls as the CFO (Chief Flooring Officer), he is a skilled, self-employed flooring installer. Living near the family home in Lebanon, PA, Matt is a dedicated father to his four children: sons Grant and Hunter, and daughters Addison and Kaley. Outside of work, he channels his passion into bass fishing and archery deer hunting, connecting with the outdoors and sharing these beloved traditions with his family.
